New Goal: The Hunger Games

Now that my boyfriend is on a mission, I do stuff like this. Spend nights in the library reading depressing books.
But seriously, I have an announcement. Ok world. I've officially given in. I just finished the 3rd chapter of the first book in the Hunger Games series. I was always against reading it because it's what everyone else was doing. But my MG roommate (Kaydee :)) somehow talked me into reading it. So this was how I spent my night. Reading. In my local library. With my sisters. They'd always look up and say, "What part are you on?" and then smile and nod their heads when I told them. I figured it's something new to start and enjoy while my boy is gone :) I'm always up for setting new goals. Which is why I'm going to finish this book before the movie comes out, and then see the movie. I'll let you know what I think of the books.. So far, as of Chapter 3, I'm not that big of a fan and think it's pretty depressing.. But I will admit, it's addicting.

Happy 20th Birthday Elder Wright!! :)

Today. Wednesday, December 28th 2011 is the day my sweetheart, Preston Dale Wright turns                 20 years old!!!

And this is a picture of us exactly one year ago today. We went bowling :)
I am just proud of him. So I am going to celebrate this blessed day by sharing 20 reasons why I love him
(expect some really random reasons)
  1. I love his honesty, and that he tells me everything, and I can tell him everything.
  2. I love that he appreciates a good key change in a song - just like I do.
  3. I love all the crazy things he's done just because I asked him to. Ex: Dying my hair
  4. I love his testimony of the gospel, and I love how he values it and how he's spending 2 years of life in the service of the Lord.
  5. I love that he waited in line with me ALL day long to see Twilight :) while wearing an "I love Twilight" Basically I just love that he goes to sappy chick-flicks with me.
  6. I love his attitude towards his family and his mom. He's so respectful in every way possible.
  7. I love that he would tell me "Goodnight" and "Good morning" and "I love you" every single day. And how he'd wait up for me to get ready for bed because he wanted to call me to say Goodnight.
  8. I love how he just lights up a room simply by smiling :)
  9. I love that he goes Black Friday shopping with me :) even when it's way too early in the morning.
  10. I love that he took me to do baptisms in my favorite temple (slc) right before he left.
  11. I love that he always gets me the best/most meaningful presents :)
  12. I love that he always remembers our month anniversaries, even when I sometimes forget.
  13. I love when I'm driving and he just starts singing to me :)
  14. I love that he writes me every week and records himself just because he knows how much videos and letters mean to me.
  15. I love the way he listens to me when I have to vent, complain or just simply talk.
  16. I love the way he says he loves me after he teases me.
  17. I love that every day, I find a new thing to love about him.
  18. I love that he smiles and always tells me, "You're gonna love it" when I have to go to a doctor to get a shot, or get blood taken. Because he knows how much I hate it.  I also love that he always comes with me :)
  19. I love that he trusts me.
  20. I love that he loves me, and makes me feel like I'm perfect for him :) Because I know that he's perfect for me :)
Preston, if you're reading this, Happy Birthday Sweetheart <3

I love you :)

Merriest Christmas Ever!!

I will never forget this Christmas. It was the first year I actually "came home" for Christmas. It was the first year without my sweetheart. It was the first Christmas since I've lived in Utah where there wasn't any snow on the ground. It was the first Christmas I got to skype with him :) It was the first year where I wasn't too excited about opening any of my presents because I had already opened my package from him. And nothing beats his presents :) Basically... This Christmas was amazing. Here's a little view of it:
We got so much time to talk. I really am one lucky girl :)
"Ok I'm gonna take a picture"
"Should I do this?"
"Yes. It looks great :)"
I opened this package in front of him over skype :) so he got to see my reaction. And let me tell you. I was freaking out. I got the one thing I've been wanting for SO long!! His name tag!!! I also got:
One of his ties soaked in his cologne <3
A memory card with 30 videos <3
An amazing light up glass keychain with our picture etched inside <3
A little scarf <3
A card with Hungarian money inside <3
And of course, an amazing letter <3 <3 :) :)
I am in love with it :) and him :) he's seriously the best.
A few weeks ago Preston asked me to email him some pictures. So I said,
"Of course! Here are a couple of my favorites. Am I allowed to know why you randomly need these pictures?"
"I just love you so much :) is that a good enough reason? :) Because you are the love of my life!! :)"
But now I know why he needed pictures. For this :) :) ^^^ I freaking love it!!! Without fail, he gets me thee best gifts every year.
I wore the cologne soaked tie all day. Who wouldn't? You can't really see it but I'm also wearing his name tag <3
My sister gave this to me for Christmas. She knows me all too well :)
Last but not least, the same sister gave this JB poster. I'm seriously so excited about it :D
Like I already said, I will never forget this Christmas :) Only one more to go before he gets home! And only 136 days till Mothers Day..... :)
Here's a little thought on talking to him at Christmas. It was the best thing in the world. We weren't awkward, we just laughed and talked like he never even left :) And I mean waiting hasn't been getting harder as time goes on or anything. But it recharged my waiting battery 110% :) But for those of you who didn't get to talk to your boys, you are also lucky, in a way. I wouldn't say that I had a "post phone call crash" but as soon as hung up, a little piece inside of me felt as though I was back at the beginning. Cuz for those couple hours that I got to talk to him, it felt like he was home. And hanging up felt like saying "see you later" again. Of course I was still happy :) but it just made me miss him a lot more than normal. I'm fine now though :) In fact, I'm more than fine. I am so freaking pumped for this next year! I am so excited for the packages that I have planned :) I'm not worried that waiting will get hard during these next 14 months. Because I know it won't :) I'm living my life, writing him every week, praying for him every day, focusing on myself, and just having fun :) He's still on my mind 24/7, but that's just because he's always with me. Always in my heart. Which is why I feel like I can be happy, and enjoy everything that this next year will bring :) I just can't wait!!

Letter to Santa

I was at Chick-Fil-A last night and they had a table where you could write letters to Santa. So I wrote one and then put it in their little mailbox <3

Well everyone, I am officially back in the good ole USA after 4 amazing months in China :) Which means I'll be updating my blog on a regular basis again! :)
I just can't believe how fast time went. I swear I was just posting about how I was leaving. I could write a million paragraphs about all my experiences there. But that's probably a bit much huh. So I'll just tell you about my "coming home" experience.
About a week before we left, I developed a pretty nasty ear infection. I thought it would be gone before we left China. Well, that didn't happen. So I flew from Hong Kong, to Korea, to LA, to SLC with this infection. It wasn't so bad at first, but by the time we got to LA I was dying. So when we landed in Salt Lake I was in a lot of pain. But nothing beat seeing my family and friends :) I am so lucky to have other MG friends who surprised me at the airport. Ashley, Alix, you guys seriously rock :)
I also witnessed some soldiers coming home. And wanna know the cutest thing? I witnessed one soldier coming down the escalader and when he got to the bottom, his girlfriend ran up and hugged him. Right after that, he kneeled down and proposed :) Talk about making me antsy.. It kinda really made me want my boy home right then and there.
Ok I got side tracked. Sorry. So then we left the airport and I went straight to the emergency room. I almost made it to 20 years young without ever stepping foot into that place. Dang my stupid ear infection.
(p.s. This was taken after the doctor stuck something in the ear and made me cry. I wasn't very happy)
They just gave me a ton of meds and sent me on my way. The next day I was nauseated alllllll day. I was so mad cuz I only have 2 weeks in Utah. But prayers really do work, and today I felt better. I am finally enjoying the Christmas season. I've got a lot of stuff to do in the next 3 days!
Basically, I'm just glad to be home :) It's so cliche to say, but there really is no place like home for the holidays :)

(And just to update you, me and Preston are just better than ever :) We get to skype on Christmas and I'm awaiting a Christmas package from him. We're still more in love than ever :))

His Mission Call Year Mark

Hello World!!
I know I have been completely MIA ever since August 25th. But here's the thing. I am 100% a picture blogger. If I can't add pictures into my post, it just makes me not want to post. Which is why you haven't heard anything from me. I'm still in China. And yes, I can blog, but the proxy that I use to get to blogger won't upload pictures.
But that is not the point to this post. This post is dedicated to the amazing missionary that is my boyfriend :) He has been gone 9 months, 1 week and 1 day. I was supposed to write about this on November 11th but I was on vacation. Want to know why November 11th is so special to me? It's the day my sweetheart got his mission call :) Which means... It has been over a year since he got his call. Now see, I don't know if I believe this. There's no way it's been a year since I saw him opening that envelope. There's no way it's been a year since I saw the look on his face when he saw the words, "Hungary, Budapest" and in honor of that, here is the link to the video of him opening it :)
Now I really feel like we're getting close to the year mark :) and I know that once a lot of girls hit 7, 8, or  9 months, things usually start getting harder. Right? Well... Not for us :) I'm not even lying when I say we're only loving each other more and more with every day that passes. Which means, I know it's possible to not fall away from your boys. If any newer MG's are reading this, I want you to know that waiting really is possible, and easy sometimes :) Especially when you're as in love as I am :)
Now that I've done this post about milestones. I'd like to throw in my countdown of the near future :)
  • In 31 days - I leave China, and come home for the holidays :)
  • In 37 days - It's Christmas!!! You know what that means... Skyping with him!! :)
  • In 46 days - I hop on a plane and head to Hawaii to start school at BYUH
  • In 83 days - It's his YEAR MARK!!!
I love life :) and my Elder Wright <3

Thursday, August 25, 2011

It's finally August 25th!! You know what that means? I leave for China tonight!!!
I will hopefully still be able to blog all the time. If you would like to follow all the experiences and adventures I embark on while there, you can follow my China blog:
But no worries, I'll still write on this blog :) just not as much... :)
As far as me and my mish go, we are doing wonderful and still more in love than ever!
I highly recommend living your own life and experiencing different things while your missionary is gone. I know this experience is going to be one of the most amazing experiences of my whole life.
I'm just so excited and wanna leave now! Just 5 more hours til I leave for the airport!!! :)
We fly to California, then Korea, then Hong Kong and then finally China!
Wish me luck!!

My Comfort Songs from Feb 2011

I heard all 3 of these songs either today or yesterday. They are the 3 songs that helped get me through when Preston first left in February. Really the only song I could listen to that didn't make me cry was this one:
Here Comes The Sun
Next was this one. Now this one made me cry. A lot.
And this last song is one that I listened to a lot a couple weeks into his mission. When I was finally coming out of that really depressed stage. Certain lyrics fit exactly how I was feeling. It made me cry, yes. But it was one of those songs that even though it makes you sad, it makes you happy.
Today My Life Begins

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Am I really posting this already? Has he really been gone for 181 days? I'm proud to say that I have made it through the first 6 months of Preston's mission :) that calculates to 1/4 of his mission. Done. Gone forever :) Could I be any more happy? No :) (technically his 6 months mark was August 9th but I have been without internet for 2 days)
These 6 months have been some of the hardest months of my life - hands down. But they have also been some of the best. I have met some of the most amazing girls and created friendships that I know will last a very long time. I've grown so much and I'm learning more every day. I've learned to appreciate the little things that I never did before. Because really, the little things in life matter the most. But most importantly, I've never been more in love with Preston :) waiting isn't so hard anymore. It's still hard... But call me crazy - I actually enjoy it. We are both learning so much about ourselves during these two years. It's amazing to see both of us going through this together.
I wouldn't be posting this right now if it wasn't for all the wonderful MG's. I don't know if I'd be this happy during this waiting process without them. So girls, thank you :)
Also, I am happy to say that I haven't gone on any dates yet since Preston left. Some girls date, some girls don't. I always just said that I'd do what feels right. But so far, not dating has been right :) It's made my life so much easier.
I'd like to end with saying that Preston has been the most amazing missionary. He is working SO hard everyday but he still makes time to write me every single week. He still makes time to make me videos and take pictures. He is putting in the extra effort to serve the Lord but also love me at the same time. And I love him so much for it :)
I just can't wait for the next 6 months! I go to China in 15 days and I couldn't be more excited for the future :)
p.s. This is what 6 months down looks like :)
I'm not worried that my feelings will change :) I love what one of my new favorite songs by Keith Urban says:
"But if anyone can make it, I'm betting on me and you
Just keep on moving in to me
I know you're going to see
The best is yet to come

Don’t fear it now; we're going all the way
Where the sun is shining on a brand new day
It's a long way down, and it's a leap of faith
But I’m never giving up, 'cause I know we got a once in a lifetime love"

Elder Wright :)

I saw that someone else made this picture for their boy, so I decided to do the same :)

People are Faster than Letters :)

As most of you know, my boy is serving in Hungary. He teaches this English class over there and makes friends. Then, these friends add me on facebook. I guess he talks about me or something... :) Anywho, they are the nicest people. They take pictures of him and then send them to me. Seriously, too nice :)
Yesterday I was talking to this lady he teaches named Bernadett. She's not a member, which is cool for me because I feel like I can help do my own missionary work when I talk to some of these people :)
So she asked me if there was anything she could tell Preston for me. This is what i said... :)

Then she gets on facebook today and says:

My day is made :)
p.s. I told her to tell him I'm sorry about Monday because that's when I fell asleep 7 minutes before he got online to email. It was the first time that has happened. And I felt terrible.
But I like to think that this is the start of a beautiful friendship :)

Letters = Happiness

I love letters :)

He's so silly :) I love it.
Wanna know something sad though? Last night I fell asleep 7 minutes before Preston got online to email. I. was. so. upset. with myself.
BUT, I got a letter today. Which made it better :) I still felt quite bad though.
Anyway, how cute is he? I love him a lot :) Every time I get a letter I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. He is so good to me :) If you don't have a boy this amazing already, go find one and make him yours :) You won't regret it.

39 Days-ish

I leave for China in about 39 days :) Am I freaking out because I'm so excited? YES! This week was training. I'm going with a fellow MG, Kaydee. We met a couple more people from our group going to Kaiyin. I can tell we're going to become great friends :)
I learned a lot and I cannot wait to get there :)
In other news, Preston is on his 3rd transfer today! :) You know what that means? Only 13 left! He is getting a new companion who is only on his 6th transfer. So they are both going to have to work even harder. I'm excited for him though :) Also, this past week he finally got my anniversary package that I sent him :) He said he was so amazingly happy. He even said it was the happiest day of his mission so far. Hopefully he was exaggerating about that though :)

Another thing that happened this week was the Harry Potter premier. I had to work the midnight showing. I'd never seen so many people at the theatre in my life. All I could think was, "Where are we putting all these people? There's no way they'll all fit in our theatre" but somehow, they did.

Honestly, this week has been one of the busiest weeks of the summer for me. I love it :) Time is flying. Staying busy really is key. I'm so happy every day and before I know it, I'll be at 6 months :)
p.s. I really love Elder Wright <3

Sunday Nights are the Best :)

So I'm sitting here emailing this guy ---------> :) :)

I'm also watching this movie :)
George Banks: "I used to think a wedding was a simple affair. Boy and girl meet, they fall in love, he buys a ring, she buys a dress, they say I do. I was wrong. That’s getting married. A wedding is an entirely different proposition. I know. I’ve just been through one. Not my own, my daughter’s. Annie Banks Mackenzie. That’s her married name: Mackenzie. You fathers will understand. You have a little girl. An adorable little girl who looks up to you and adores you in a way you could never have imagined. I remember how her little hand used to fit inside mine. Then comes the day when she wants to get her ears pierced, and wants you to drop her off a block before the movie theater. From that moment on you’re in a constant panic. You worry about her meeting the wrong kind of guy, the kind of guy who only wants one thing, and you know exactly what that one thing is, because it’s the same thing you wanted when you were their age. Then, you stop worrying about her meeting the wrong guy, and you worry about her meeting the right guy. That’s the greatest fear of all, because, then you lose her. It was just six months ago that that happened here."

I love life <3
I love this movie so much. And I love my boy :)
The End :)

3 Years!!! :D

Oh my gosh. I cannot believe that today is our 3 year anniversary :) I could write a novel about our journey and memories but I won't. I just want to share some pictures of our journey thus far :)
When Twilight first came out, we made shirts and waited in line all day for the midnight premier :) He didn't even like Twilight.. But he liked me :)
We went to Prom our Junior year since we had only started dating the summer before :)
We also went to Prom our senior year :)
We spent our 1 year anniversary up Provo canyon :)
He stayed by my side after I got my wisdom teeth out :)
He took me to cool places like Squaw Peak :)
We got to visit Stanford University :)
We spent time on the beach in San Francisco :)
We also spent time at Huntington Beach the summer before :)
Then we graduated together :) 2010 baby!
Our 2 year anniversary was amazing :) We really like chocolate covered strawberries and martinelli's :)
July 4th 2010 :)
Fall 2010 I went away to college and he went away to Texas for a month. After he got home, I went home every weekend :) But we'd send a lot of pictures back and forth. Including this one :)
He would also come and visit me at school :)
This was 12 days before he got his mission call :)
8 days after he got his mission call, we flew to Texas to visit his dad :) We also might have spent 12 hours in Cowboys stadium watching football... :)
Our last Christmas together was amazing :) We were inseparable :)
Our favorite thing to do was to take the trax to slc and go to temple square and ice skate outside at Gallivan Plaza :)
Feb 9th 2011 is the day he entered the MTC. But our story does not stop there ladies and gentleman :) it continues every single day :)
Even though today is our anniversary and instead of being together like we are in all the pictures above, we are still together in heart :)
"We really are doing this, and no one is gonna stop us :)" - Elder Preston Wright
I can't wait to find out what the next 3 years have to hold :)

He Is Indeed, Mine :)

How did I get so lucky? I do not know. But this missionary is mine and I'm so proud of him :)

MG Slideshow :)

Facebook was stupid and removed the video because it violated privacy rules... So I'm hoping all of you girls will watch it on here!
It's nothing that special. It's just us and our boys :) Sorry that I probably left some girls out. But there were over 100 pictures that wanted to be put in and that would have taken a lot longer. So I included random ones :) I hope you all enjoy!!
